Doing it for the members
North Herts Farmers is the purchasing arm that the vast majority of farm businesses will never have. Originally formed on the back of local NFU groups who would bulk their orders together to give members buying power, the Hertfordshire arm grew until it had full time members of staff and now consists of 3 full time staff and 3 part time. Members will tell you of 5 unique benefits that North Herts Farmers brings –
1 Bulk buying advantage.
13 million litres of fuel, 40,000 tonnes of fertiliser, 4000 cubes of ready mix, to name a few, whatever it is that our members need we usually buy it in large quantities demanding the very best prices.
2 Time saving.
Farms are no longer tardy laid back places. Our job is to know the best places to buy and moreover with commodities, the best TIME to buy. We shop around and have the contacts with over 200 suppliers so that you can concentrate on your business. We appreciate that this is a very trusted position and comes with time – to help this EVERYTHING is transparent from prices that find to the commissions that we make.
3 Cutting administration.
All of our members are on direct debit. Two weeks after you have seen our breakdown of what you have spent we will raise a direct debit. If there are no queries (we sort out most queries before our members know about them) then that’s it. No cheques to send. No letters. No phone calls. All done. All invoices come with copies of the original suppliers invoices so you know exactly that we aren’t profiteering from your purchase.
4 Informative purchasing.
Half of buying the best is knowing what, when, who and how. Anyone can negotiate £5 discount on a tonne of fertiliser but buy it at the right time in the market and potentially save £50. Through newsletters, emails and text message updates we keep our members in the know with what is going on.
5 Community.
Community is the centre of farming. We act as a hub for diary dates, rural crime alerts, events and other community issues that crop up. We are proud supporters of the local ploughing matches and the county show as well as other rural community events in Hertfordshire.
